Radiohead Ant

A newly discovered ant has been named after the band Radiohead, this is in honour of their efforts towards conservation and climate change awareness.

Sericomyrmex radioheadi is found in South America. It grows it's own food and is covered with filaments of white crystals.

When looking at the ants under a microscope, they have a covering of velvety hairs. This leads to the nickname of "silky" ants.

There's still much to learn about these ants and I look forward to reading more on them.
