A newly discovered ant has been named after the band Radiohead, this is in honour of their efforts towards conservation and climate change awareness. Sericomyrmex radioheadi is found in South America. It grows it's own food and is covered with filaments of white crystals. When looking at the ants under a microscope, they have a covering of velvety hairs. This leads to the nickname of "silky" ants. New research has found an ant species that rescues their injured. Megaponera analis ants live in Africa and live on termites. The research found that when the ants were injured when out gathering termites, that other colony members would carry them back to the nest to heal. Once healed the ants would then return to normal duties and once again go out to raid termite colonies, even if this meant missing a leg or antennae .
